Sunstone Lodge (Garreg Haul Lodge) Reviews

As a family of 6. 2 teenagers and 2 youngsters, we really enjoyed our time here. The views and location were fantastic for us. We loved it being wild and beautiful. Views over Hells Mouth Beach. 10 mins into Abersoch. The Lodge is comfortable, stylish, cosy and relaxing. Communication with the Owners was personal and friendly.
Fantastic hidden gem and perfect in every way even in the strong winds and rain! We all loved everything about it and all very warm and comfortable and at home straight away! Photos dont do it justice! Thanks for sharing your place!
Michelle
We stayed at Sunstone Lodge for the last week in August. The lodge was comfortable with most things that you would require. The views are stunning and we loved the local walks around note it is in a rural spot which wouldnt be for everyone but we loved it. The best thing was how close Abersoch beach was and we spent most days there paddle boarding when we had the good weather. We would definitely think about staying there in the future.
Andrew
Loved this property, the location and views are stunning. Very quiet and relaxing. Everything was clean and well equipped. We had a great stay.

This was a gem of a find. I dont think the photos do it justice. The views are spectacular and the location was perfect. Straight onto the coastal path away from the hustle bustle. The accommodation was warm, cosy, homely and had absolutely everything you could possibly need. Cant wait to go back.

June 2025 This lodge is outstanding in comfort it is well maintained, has a spectacular view from the decking overlooking Porth Neigwl beach. The sunset is unique! Highly recommended, peaceful and comfortable. Oh and the carpets have been replaced with good quality ones.Thank you Steve & Angela

If you are looking for a lodge with a view, this is it! You have views of Abersoch to your right and Hells Mouth beach to your left with Snowdonia as a backdrop, just magnificent. The lodge is gated and situated within National Trust Land, its rural location suited us as it was nice to come away from the hustle of Abersoch and have peace and quiet. There is a short single track lane leading to the lodge but not busy. The lodge has everything a family of 4 and a dog could need even hot water bottles! the games cupboard was welcome on our rainy days together with Netflix to catch up on some films. The Welsh Coastal path is on the doorstep and great for walks together with the surrounding headland. We would recommend The Sun Inn, Crust Pizzeria and Creel Fish and Chips for eating out or in. We visited Llanbedrog beach which has a lovely cafe and great food, head for the golf course in Abersoch to find the main beach. Dogs are welcome at both. We loved our stay and hope to return again.
Lovely property which needs a bit of updating, carpets very stained and bath looked worse for wear, looks like previous flood damage. Beautiful views, peaceful and quiet. Everything needed in the lodge making it very homely after a long day out walking. We loved it being secluded, but commented we were happy the cottage wasnt being used as might have felt odd sitting out and watching others in the cottage garden. Perfect lodge for a perfect week away x
Great location and overall the lodge was lovely. We loved it being so remote, thats why we picked it. Absolutely stunning views and the garden being enclosed really helps with the dog. There are sheep wondering round the fields and great walks on your doorstep. There is a lovely farm shop who serve food on the main road about 10 minutes away if that and a spar just a little further on. Fantastic week away.
Alison
A beautiful location, with amazing views. Great access to the coastal path and a path to the beach. The property is clean and everything you need is provided. We had a great week with lots of local walks and relaxing.

Positives Great spacious lodge, comfy beds, great views and amazing sunsets, large living areas, good size kitchen which had a washing machine not mentioned in the list of amenities, so a welcome surprise, great shower in main bedroom. Ample cutlery, plates, pans etc Peaceful and quiet Negatives carpets in all rooms grubby and stained, blind in twin bedroom would not open and therefore in darkness all the time, clutter shells on headboard in double bedroom and surface divider in kitchen. Things left in freezer when we arrived and obviously not checked by cleaner. Had two '3 words' links in address which took us to wrong place Very rural which isn't indicated in advert so not great with 3 kids
Jennifer
Lovely stay. Comfortable lodge with amazing views
Pauline
If you want total peace with amazing views of porth Neigwl, and Abersoch, then this is the place for you. The Lodge is beautifully furnished and decorated, light and airy with every comfort, a real home from home. The beds are comfy and plenty of wardrobe space so for a family its ideal. For EV drivers there are sufficient charging points in the area, we found the best one was in Tremadog.
Tracey
Fantastic family with a fantastic property we love our holiday
It was a great pleasure staying at this property and the views were spectacular also peaceful. One small problem for us was that having an old dog the decking was slippery in the rain.
Wonderful views from the spacious lodge . Make sure you arrive in daylight as the tracks to the lodge arent easy to find. The only one thing to note is that access to the holiday cottage below is via the garden of the lodge and the path passes the bedroom window re privacy.
Rachel
We loved our stay at Sunstone Lodge. Lovely comfortable place with everything you needed. The views were amazing. Great to be able to walk to Porth Neigwl beach down the coastal path.
We had a lovely time the lodge was really comfortable every thing we needed was there. Just a couple of minor gripes the oven had not been cleaned? and there was no shelf in the shower! But on the whole a very pleasurable holiday, the views were brilliant. A 10 out of 10 holday. Thanks.
This is a truly lovely place. It feels that you are in the middle of nowhere but are not far away from all of the amenities and fun if you want it. The lodge is lovely and the outside seating is great and very substantial. The beds are very comfy, especially the main bedroom. Water pressure and showers perfect! The view is to die for. It is so very peaceful. I would definitely want to return. Just a few niggles, but nothing that would make me not book here again the road is extremely bumpy with potholes on the national trust lane, we were surprised when we got there as there was a car parked on the drive next to the lodge and we thought the cleaner was still there, however, it was the tenants of the cottage below, this was not a problem but we were not told. There weren't many large cooking pans, but that sounds sad as there was a bbq and places to eat out, although there was some privacy if the cottage below was very near you could hear them, we were fine as there was a lovely young family there who also wanted privacy. Their little dog came into the lodge a few times, but we found that funny. However, we were warned by the owner about this and to keep logs on a lead. Overall an amazing place and perfect if you want to book both the cottage and the lodge!
I almost don't want to tell people how good this place is incase it's full all year and I can't get back there! What a fantastic place. The lodge is decorated beautifully, so light and fresh with everything you need and more! I had been looking for a place that had to tick a fair few boxes to accommodate my parents and our pooch, which wasn't easy but Sunstone lodge ticked every box and exceeded our expectations. With four adults and a dog we never felt on top of each other as there is plenty of space. A fantastic sized garden for the dog which is completely secure and gated so he had plenty of space to mooch about it in safety. Super clean, very well looked after, comfy sitting room, comfy beds, great showers and everything you need in the kitchen. Surrounded by so much wonderful wildlife and the best views of the beach and the coastlines. The furniture on the decking is super comfy you can sit and look at the amazing views for hours. There's lots to explore around the lodge and a coastal path on the doorstep. This really is a wonderful place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. We've stayed in a lot of lodges but this is the first one we've found that will be going back to and we can't wait! Even the dog is a little sad we are back home. 5 stars
Jennifer
Amazing lodge very comfortable and great quality furnishings. The view is beautiful and its a superb location for peace and quiet.
The views from the property where so spectacular the sea bays hell man's bay to the bays of Abersoch where breathtaking and also the views of snowdonia mountains. The property was clean and spacious with everything that we needed the Grandkids loved their stay enjoying the kids games which where provided. Lovely coastal walks nearby and beaches where great to explore. Enjoyed the evenings sitting on the decking watching the sun go down. We would highly recommend this lodge and hopefully return again for another holiday lovely memories. Kev and family.
Elizabeth
The property was really comfy, fantastic views and very light inside. Good location for walking with the Coastal Path on the doorstep and a beach close by.
This is a wonderful property. Tastefully decorated and really well equipped with everything we needed. Comfy beds, good showers, and lots of dvds and board games to keep the little ones entertained. The location is idyllic, on a headland surrounded by sea and mountains in every direction, and only a 10 minute drive from the shopsrestaurantsbeach in Abersoch. The coastal path is on the doorstep, and leads down to long quiet beach with lots to explore, and so much space. We had the best time, was great to see the children exploring and enjoying being outdoors. Some great memories made. Thank you.
