Glan Y Don Bach Reviews

We had a lovely week, the accommodation was excellent. Spotlessly clean and comfortable, a real home from home. The location is perfect, just a short stroll to pubs, restaurants and cafes and having a parking space was a real bonus. We were sad to leave.
Tracey
We have recently returned from a wonderful week at Glan Y Don Bach. Great communications and information from Fiona prior to our visit. The cottage is in a wonderful position right across from the water with great views and more importantly with parking! The cottage is comfortable, homely and very well stocked. The stairs are steep and narrow but manageable with care. There are great hikes right from the door and lots of choice for eating and drinking right on the doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again when back in the area. Highly recommend.
All in all we had a nice time at this property. Could not fault the location and the views with the sea literally across the road. However on entering the living room of the property there was a not very nice smell to it. Perhaps it hadnt been used for a while but there was a sort of moth ball smell to it so maybe a couple of air fresheners would sort this out. When we got there there had been a lot of rain and the side window in the living room had let some water in so the window ledge had a few puddles on it. I wouldnt recommend this property for anyone with mobility issues as the staircase is quite steep and very narrow with only a slim handrail to hold on to and getting up in the night to use the bathroom which is downstairs you had to make sure you are wide awake due to the stairs. We were lovely and cosy with the heating system and the double bed inthe front bedroom was extremely comfortable. Overall we had a lovely time.

We stayed on 3rd Oct to 10th and it was amazing, the house is perfect well equipped, and the location is perfect. Walk to all the shops, pubs and cross from beach. It was very sad to leave , but we'll be back soon. Thankyou
I have stayed many times at Glan y Don Bach. It's perfectly located, comfortable, and ideal. Thank you.
We enjoyed our short stay in Abersoch. We lived there for 37 years owning the Vaynol for 10 years ! My wife was born in Aberdoch and her father worked for Dad for some time as a carpenter when Abersoch w as s Abersoch! Now completely lost its character.I met my wife 60 years ago in the Tarantella cafe as was.Our Diamond wedding is in November
Barbara
Glan y Don Bach was a pleasure to stay in. Its a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The private parking was a bonus. We didnt want to leave!..
Super cottage in a great location.
Stayed here for a week early May and found it an idyllic spot with views across the bay and beach which were just stunning. 2 minutes walk in to the village with a couple of pubs and few places to eat and shop. Accommodation itself was really well laid out with a decent sized kitchen, bathroom and living room downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. Very comfortable with everything we needed. Quiet and restful, only yards from the beautiful sandy beach of Abersoch and we found several walks straight from our front door. Really loved the place and my wife and I had a great week.
Maureen
Brilliant holiday, the property was a home from home. Clean, well maintained and very well situated. Central to the shops and the sea just over the road
Carole
The location is ideal and couldnt be better. Everything is to hand. This is our second year at this halfof the property and we have already booked the other half for next year. This must prove our feelings for Glam Y Don Bach. The change is purely on the grounds of size.only.
Super cottage in a good location.
Deborah
Simply brilliant
Michael
Great property, ideally situated for both the town and the beach.
Brilliantly located property just opposite the beach and a minutes walk from the town. Kitchen well equipped and lovely clean modern bathroom. Will definitely be returning.
Maureen
Amazing location

We had an excellent stay at Glan Y Don Bach. It was very comfortable and clean, with excellent views over the bay. It has a fantastic location, minutes from the amenities of Abersoch and its wonderful beaches. There are plenty of eateries around a minute or two from the doorstep. The harbour town of Abersoch affords an easy drive to Caernarfon and surrounding towns. Snowdonia and the mountains are an easy drive as is the wonderful Italianate town of Portmerion. Will we be back. Absolutely! We have visited before and will certainly be back.
Nicola
We must be extremely unlucky as the same happened this year at the cottage ,as did our other holiday house from Sykes last year ,having a building site next door ,workman splitting stone all day till 6 oclock on last Thursday very noisy and intrusive. We came on holiday for a bit of peace and quiet and unfortunately didnt get it .
Deborah
Superb location situated opposite the sea with stunning views. The cottage itself is lovely and was well equipped for everything we needed and the communication from start to finish was very comprehensive and informative. The area is excellent and has some lovely walks and views all around, so glad we visited. The only very minor issue was the high chair in the property was a little dated and in need of TLC. Other than that it was all excellent
Dorothy
A lovely cottage with all modern facilities, with walking distance to beach, shops and restaurants. Would recommend this cottage for a carefree holiday. Love Abersoch been going there for years. Hope to stay again soon
Deborah
Truly wonderful
Annabel
A super cottage. Very clean with everything you could need. Location is wonderful right on the beach and so close to the main high street. I would highly recommend.
Jennifer
Lovely location, really live the cottage, really enjoyed our stay .
Second stay here, so that speaks for itself! An absolutely unbeatable location, the views from the main bedroom are jaw droppingly beautiful and a 1 minute walk from all the shops and eateries of Abersoch. We were told that Glan Y Don Bachsmall is the oldest cottage in the town, it is warm and cosy, has lots of room for storage and every facility you would need, including car parking. Brilliant!
We have been back home a few weeks now from our week in Abersoch, and still feel refreshed from our tranquil time there. Cottage was just as advertised, and being back in Abersoch and the Llyn after many years of not been there brought back many happy memories.
Christine
Only problem I had was with the key box outside which would not close but I did inform the owner and the locks on the 2 external doors were quite stiff , salt sea air . The stairs in this property are in character but narrow , so fine for a small person like me but a largertaller person may find tricky . Location , facilities within the cottage and view fabulous . Good sized bathroom is downstairs . Having 1 parking spot within the property off the road is invaluable .As I went after 15th Sept parking out of the drive would not have been a problem overnight as there is some parking available on the road but peak season it is not possible . So for a party bringing more than 1 car , beware of the very limited parking in the area . The drive is shared with the cottage attached and they have 1 space also but plenty of room for 2 good sized cars for the 2 spaces . The small twin bed room is small , fine for kids but 2 adults would find ' cosy ' . The main double bed with 2 windows of views of the harbour and beach is lovely .
Richard
Lovely cottage in arguably one of the best positions in Abersoch with good parking and a lovely garden.
Carole
Great welcome email, great instructions, fantastic location, owner happy for us to have a slightly later checkout on our last day we left at 0930, kitchen very well stocked with everything you could need, BUT, Overall cleanliness poor especially floors, spider webs everywhere, stained sheet despite details of a deep clean being mentioned. All ornaments cushions removed not a pattern our friends had at their rentals in Abersoch didn't help the overall look of the property. Everything mismatched and done on the cheap upstairs. Curtains thinunlined, everyone awake from 4am due to bright light in the bedrooms as a result owner contacted and did provide 1 blackout blind much appreciated but only for 1 of 4 windows. Owner inadvertently sent a text to me in Welsh which basically said I was trouble and a few other things! Very unprofessional considering I contacted them twice once prior to arrival to ask for a bit of leeway on checkout and once re the curtain situation. I'm sure other renters contact a lot more than I did.
Sophie
A little gem of a cottage, perfect location and very well equipped.
Glan Y Don Bach has everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. The cottage was spotlessly clean and in a great position. The views are lovely. Parking in the drive for 1 car is a bonus. It's a 2 minute walk in to Abersoch which has a variety of bars, shops and places to eat. Wifi has now been added and worked very well. We are already looking at booking the cottage again.
Joanne
A 2 tick cottage at best. Old carpets, rugs with stains , curtains hanging off old rails, fatty dirty and rusty trays in the oven and dirty cutlery in the drawer..lose pan handles and all kinds of odds and ends shoved in the drawers and cupboards. Nothing marched , carpets, curtains, rugs , upholstery and lamps all kinds of odds and ends of colours.. dirty upholstery in lounge on easy chairs , lumpy old mattresses in twin bedroom with spring sticking up... Cracked bath panel and toilet in bathroom.. rust spots on toilet roll holder and tea mug in kitchen...tatty chipped table & chairs in the kitchen and marked tablecloth, cracked table in lounge....very disappointed....such a shame as in an amazing location.. very lacking in TLC und unloved..
A good deep clean would be good if I'm leaving an honest review. Curtains where dirty and dusting seems to only done in places that are immediately visible. When we arrived the two children's highchairs where disgusting and unable to be cleaned. We contacted the owner who said she was unaware and they replaced them quickly with another highchair later in the day when we was out. We saw the old highchairs later in the day at the house next door but one so guessing the owners live there Quite a small house so kept banging into things quiet a bit but a good location. Very often there were large camper vans parked right outside most of the day so blocking most of the view.
Carole
Lovely central location. Beautiful views and very quiet.
Nicholas
Great location in a quiet road overlooking the beach, we were there for a sailing event at the yacht club that was only a 8 min walk away on the coast path. Good communication from the owners and we would come back.
Excellent location, the views from the double bedroom are totally stunning, and it's right in the centre of Abersoch but also quiet. We had a great week, the weather was cold but very sunny and the heating was more than adequate. The fireplace can't be used but we put candles in it and made a focal point for the room. plenty of space and storage facilities, not loads of clutter and pointless ornamentation as we've experienced at other places we've stayed. Great!!!!
Fantastic little cottage had a brilliant week with the weather and catching up with friends Shame no wi fii , should now be part of all holidays there if you want or not Few little issues but didnt spoil our holiday, smell of oil in the kitchen from the boiler bit off putting when eating in there Shower has no power with water flow and bathroom bit dated My biggest problem as I am a light sleeper was the bin men coming regularly at 3. 30 am to empty bins and a road sweeper cleaning up flashing lights and beeping noises, I know the cottage is in the village but its opposite big bins where everyone sits and eats fish and chips but you dont want to be woken from this on your holiday!!!! Beautiful views of the sea from the upstairs front bedroom, very limited television channels, and you have to share parking with next door who come and go next to your cottage.
We have stayed at Glan Y don Bach several times. The last was 2016 when I mentioned the cleanliness of the property then which really wasn't as good as the previous years. Particularly the bathroom and the poor Shower which is probably due to the water pressure. We had fab weather though!! Unsure we will stay there again. Sorry.
The main thing that I found to be a problem is the fact that there is no wi if connection in the property, to which some people would say that whist on holiday surely you could actually do without using the internet, but there are the odd and important occasion that you might need it. That is my only gripe otherwise what an excellent holiday cottage situated in such a prime location.
Alastair
Great location, perfect for everything Abersoch has to offer. Will be returning soon!
